Indonesia Treks & Cruises

Indonesia is an adventure destination shaped by movement across land and sea.

Spanning thousands of islands, the country rewards travellers who enjoy active exploration, combining trekking, wildlife encounters and on-water journeys through some of Southeast Asia’s most diverse environments.

On land, trekking routes climb volcanic peaks, cross rural landscapes and pass through communities where daily life remains closely connected to the environment. Walks through highlands, forests and agricultural regions offer insight into Indonesia’s cultural diversity, with local traditions and ceremonies forming a natural part of the journey.

Equally central are Indonesia’s On Water Expeditions. Small-ship cruises and boat-based journeys allow you to explore remote island chains, coastal ecosystems and marine-rich waters that are often inaccessible by road. Travelling by boat creates access to coral reefs, isolated villages and protected marine areas, offering a different perspective on the archipelago’s scale and diversity.

The best time to travel to Indonesia for hiking, trekking, kayaking and adventure touring is usually during the drier months when rainfall is lighter and conditions are more comfortable for exploring forests, coastlines and national parks.

Indonesia has a tropical climate with warm temperatures year round, typically ranging between 24°C and 32°C (75°F–90°F). Most regions experience a dry season and a wetter season which influence outdoor travel conditions.

During the wetter season tropical showers refresh the landscape and create lush green forests and flowing rivers. While humidity is higher, this time can still be rewarding for adventurous travellers seeking vibrant scenery and quieter trails.

All international arrivals into Indonesia are required to complete the All Indonesia integrated declaration system. This unified digital platform covers immigration, customs, health, and quarantine.

What Travellers Need to Do:

1. Submit the form within 3 days before arrival.

2. Access the system via the web portal https://allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id or the mobile app (available on Android & iOS).
