Brazil

Brazil is the largest country in South America and one of the most culturally diverse and naturally rich destinations in the world. Stretching from the Amazon Basin to the vast wetlands of the Pantanal and the golden beaches of its Atlantic coastline, Brazil offers an extraordinary range of landscapes and ecosystems. Its cities are equally vibrant: Rio de Janeiro is famous for its dramatic mountains and bays, while São Paulo is a dynamic hub of culture and cuisine. Colonial towns such as Paraty and Salvador showcase Brazil’s layered history and colourful architecture. Brazilian culture reflects a unique blend of Indigenous, African and European influences, shaped by regional traditions, music and a strong sense of community. The country is known for its warm hospitality, lively festivals and deep passion for dance, sport and food. From Afro-Brazilian rhythms in Bahia to the world-famous samba schools of Rio, travellers will encounter a rich cultural tapestry at every turn. Well-developed domestic flight networks make long-distance travel easy, while river journeys, overland routes and coastal transport offer varied ways to explore the country’s natural and cultural highlights. Whether visiting the wildlife-rich Pantanal, the dramatic Iguazu Falls or the rainforest environments of the Amazon, travellers will find Brazil an energetic, diverse and rewarding destination with a welcoming atmosphere.

Brazil’s climate varies greatly due to its size, but conditions are generally warm year-round. The Amazon is hot, humid and rainy throughout the year, with the wettest months from December to May. Daytime temperatures typically range from 28–34°C (82–93°F), with high humidity and warm nights. The Pantanal has a distinct dry season from May to September, when wildlife viewing is at its best, and a wetter, warmer season from October to April. Along the southern coast, including Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, summers (Dec–Mar) are hot and humid, often reaching 28–34°C (82–93°F), while winters (Jun–Aug) are mild, ranging from 18–24°C (64–75°F). Further south near Iguaçu Falls and the Argentine border, winters can be cooler with occasional cold snaps. Travellers should be prepared for warm conditions in most regions and brief tropical showers at any time of year.
