Colombia Adventures

Colombia is one of South America’s most diverse adventure destinations, where mountains, rainforest, coastline and culture come together in a single, richly layered country.

Travelling here offers contrast and immersion, rewarding those who want to explore beyond the expected.

Adventures move through varied landscapes, from the Andean highlands to tropical coastlines and deep into the Amazon Basin. Time spent in Bogotá, set high above sea level, provides cultural context through historic neighbourhoods, museums and contemporary city life. Further north, Medellín reflects a country in renewal, while Cartagena’s Caribbean setting reveals a different rhythm shaped by history, trade and coastal culture.

Beyond the cities, Colombia’s natural environments take centre stage. The Coffee Region offers rolling hills and rural landscapes where walking and cultural encounters reveal everyday life, while the far south opens into the Amazon, where river travel and guided exploration introduce one of the world’s most biodiverse ecosystems.

From the frontier town of Leticia, adventures focus on wildlife, Indigenous culture and forest environments shaped by the great river systems.

Colombia’s appeal lies not just in its landscapes, but in the warmth and openness of its people. Each adventure is designed to balance cultural depth with time in nature, allowing space to understand the country’s complexity without rushing between highlights.

Explore our Colombia adventures and discover one of South America’s quieter paths less travelled.

Bogotá & the Altiplano: Colombia’s capital Bogotá sits high on the Andean plateau where travellers explore the colonial streets of La Candelaria, visit Bolívar Square and discover the country’s rich cultural heritage.

Cartagena & Caribbean Coast: Cartagena’s colourful colonial districts and Caribbean coastline invite exploration through cobblestone streets, historic churches and centuries-old fortresses in one of South America’s most atmospheric cities.

Coffee Region Highlands: Colombia’s lush coffee-growing hills combine scenic landscapes with traditional villages and plantation culture in the heart of the country’s coffee industry.

Tayrona National Park: Rainforest-covered mountains meet the Caribbean Sea in Tayrona National Park where coastal trails pass through tropical forest to secluded beaches.

Lost City of Teyuna (Ciudad Perdida): Deep in the Sierra Nevada mountains, a spectacular four-day jungle trek climbs ancient stone steps to the Lost City of Teyuna, remarkable archaeological ruins still sacred to indigenous communities.

The best time to travel to Colombia for hiking, trekking, kayaking and adventure touring is usually during the drier months December–March and July–August, when rainfall is lighter and conditions are more comfortable for exploring forests, coastlines and national parks.

Colombia has a tropical climate with warm temperatures year round, typically ranging between 24°C and 32°C (75°F–90°F). Most regions experience a dry season and a wetter season which influence outdoor travel conditions.

During the wetter season tropical showers refresh the landscape and create lush green forests and flowing rivers. While humidity is higher, this time can still be rewarding for adventurous travellers seeking vibrant scenery and quieter trails.
