Argentina Walks & Tours

Our adventures in Argentina are defined by movement and contrast - travelling on foot, by bike or over water through landscapes that shift dramatically from one region to the next.

It’s a destination that rewards active exploration, where time outdoors brings you closer to both the scale of the land and the rhythm of daily life.

These adventures suit travellers who want variety and immersion. From rugged mountain regions and wide open plains to remote southern landscapes, journeys are shaped around activity, local knowledge and time spent away from busy centres.

Days are paced to allow meaningful connection with place, culture and environment, rather than rushing between highlights.

World Expeditions’ selection of Argentina adventures draws on decades of experience designing active journeys in South America.

Each trip is chosen for its depth, experienced leadership and responsible approach to travel - offering a balanced way to explore a vast country through carefully planned, small-group adventures that prioritise access, understanding and experience.

Useful Argentina Info

Argentina offers vibrant cities, Patagonian mountains, subtropical rainforest and dramatic Andean landscapes, with the best regions to explore including Buenos Aires, Patagonia, Iguazu, northwest Argentina and Tierra del Fuego.

Buenos Aires: Argentina’s vibrant capital Buenos Aires blends grand European-style architecture, lively neighbourhoods and rich cultural traditions where travellers experience tango, renowned cuisine and one of South America’s most dynamic cities.

Patagonia: Towering granite peaks, vast glaciers and windswept steppe define Argentina’s Patagonia where trekking routes in Los Glaciares National Park lead beneath Mount Fitz Roy and beside the advancing Perito Moreno Glacier.

Iguazu Falls & Atlantic Rainforest: Subtropical rainforest surrounds the immense Iguazu Falls where walking trails reveal one of the world’s largest and most powerful waterfall systems.

Northwest Argentina & the Andes: Colourful desert mountains and traditional Andean villages create rewarding landscapes for trekking through the Quebrada de Humahuaca and surrounding valleys.

Tierra del Fuego: At the southern tip of South America, Tierra del Fuego offers mountain trekking, horse trekking and coastal exploration in the wild landscapes surrounding Ushuaia.

The best time to travel to Argentina for hiking, trekking and adventure touring is generally during spring and autumn, October-March, when temperatures are mild and landscapes are vibrant.

Argentina has a varied temperate climate with warm summers and cooler winters. Temperatures typically range between 5°C and 30°C (41°F–86°F) depending on the region.

Summer often brings long daylight hours and green countryside, while winter can offer crisp air and quieter destinations for travellers exploring natural and cultural landscapes.

Spanish (official), Italian, English, German, French, indigenous languages (Mapudungun, Quechua)

Spanish is most definitely the national language, although here it is spoken with several different regional accents, and includes many borrowed words from other languages, in particular Italian. Many different European languages (and dialects/accents within those) can be heard throughout the country, especially Italian, which is still widely spoken in Buenos Aires.

A curious lingua franca called Lunfardo developed in Buenos Aires towards the end of the 19th century, composed of many different languages including Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, German and different African languages. Lunfardo was developed as a common slang language by the city’s criminal underworld, and was then picked up by lower classes, then spread to all classes from the start of the 20th century. The language can often be heard in the lyrics of tango music.
