South Africa offers one of the most varied safari and walking experiences in Africa, where open savannahs, mountain ranges and dramatic coastlines create space for both wildlife encounters and active exploration.

Travelling through protected wilderness areas allows you to observe Africa’s iconic wildlife in expansive landscapes, while guided walks and hikes offer a closer connection to the natural environment - from mountain foothills and river valleys to coastal paths shaped by wind and ocean.

Beyond wildlife, South Africa rewards travellers who enjoy moving through a landscape on foot or at a considered pace.

Walks and hikes reveal quieter details of the country’s ecosystems, while time spent in scenic regions provides opportunities to connect with local culture, food and history in a way that feels grounded and unforced.

We recommend that you travel with your local currency (EUR, USD, AUD, NZD, GBP) in CASH as this is the easiest way to change into local currency of the country you are travelling in . We recommend that you exchange your foreign currency at the bank located at your airport of arrival or your guide will arrange this on entry to each country.

Travel with some ZAR cash or US Dollar cash, preferably in small denominations. Pre-2006 USD notes are not accepted due to the high number of counterfeits in circulation.
