Oman Adventures

Explore Oman's working souks, lived-in forts, terraced farms and everyday rituals influenced by trade, faith and geography.

Oman is a destination that reveals itself slowly. Ancient ports, desert interiors and mountain villages sit well away from the rush of the modern Middle East, making it ideal for travellers who value culture, landscape and a measured pace of exploration.

World Expeditions has been operating tours and cultural adventures in the Middle East for decades, designing itineraries that favour respectful engagement with local communities.

Discover Muscat, home to the Grand Mosque, old harbour and traditional markets reflecting Oman’s maritime and Islamic heritage. Further south, the frankincense routes and markets of Salalah recall the country’s long role in regional trade. Across Oman, historic forts, carved doors and walled towns provide context to a layered past that remains visible today.

In the Hajar Mountains, ancient footpaths link villages and wadis edged with date palms, while the rolling dunes of the Wahiba Sands introduce the scale and silence of the desert.

Along the coast, traditional dhow travel in the Musandam Peninsula reveals sheer cliffs and clear waters, offering a different perspective on the country.

Nature adds quieter moments along the way, from the palm-lined pools of Wadi Bani Khalid to the nesting beaches of Ras Al Hadd, where green sea turtles return each year.

Explore the paths less travelled on one of our Oman tours and cultural adventures.

Dhofar & Southern Oman: Dhofar’s monsoon-fed landscapes and coastal mountains create one of the Arabian Peninsula’s most unique environments.

The best time to travel to Oman for hiking, trekking and adventure touring is usually between October and April when temperatures are cooler and conditions are more comfortable for exploring desert landscapes.

Oman has an arid desert climate with hot summers and mild winters. Temperatures generally range between 15°C and 40°C (59°F–104°F) depending on the season.

During the hotter months temperatures can rise significantly, though early morning or evening exploration can still be rewarding. Travelling during quieter periods can reveal peaceful desert scenery and dramatic landscapes.
