Laos Walks & Cycle Tours

Laos offers a slower, more reflective way to travel through Southeast Asia, where daily life is influenced by it's rivers, mountains and long-held traditions.

For travellers seeking depth rather than speed, the country rewards patience and curiosity. Our tours in Laos are unhurried, allowing time to observe, walk and engage with local people, rather than rush between highlights.

Journeys move through forested hills, rural landscapes and communities connected by the Mekong River, which remains central to life across much of the country.

Cultural experiences are closely tied to everyday life. Buddhism plays a visible role, from temple architecture and village rituals to the morning almsgiving that takes place in Luang Prabang, the country’s cultural heart.

Time spent in towns and villages offers insight into traditions that remain quietly intact, supported by a warm, understated hospitality.

Travel in Laos is simple and characterful, designed to embrace the country’s gentle pace and sense of place. It’s a destination that invites you to slow down.

Explore our Laos tours and experience one of Southeast Asia’s true paths less travelled.

Useful Laos Info

Laos offers forested mountains, Mekong river landscapes and traditional Buddhist culture, with the best regions to explore including Luang Prabang, northern Laos, the Mekong River, Wat Phu and the Plain of Jars.

Luang Prabang: Luang Prabang sits at the meeting of the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers where travellers explore temples, waterfalls and traditional Lao culture in one of Southeast Asia’s most atmospheric towns.

Northern Laos Highlands: Northern Laos offers remote mountain trekking through forested landscapes and ethnic minority villages.

Mekong River Laos: The Mekong River winds through rural Laos where boat journeys and cycling routes reveal traditional villages and fertile river valleys.

Wat Phu & Southern Laos: The ancient Khmer temple complex of Wat Phu rises above the Mekong plains where travellers explore remarkable Hindu ruins set against dramatic mountain backdrops.

Plain of Jars: The mysterious stone megaliths scattered across the Plain of Jars form one of Southeast Asia’s most intriguing archaeological landscapes explored on walks across the Xieng Khouang plateau.

The best time to travel to Laos for hiking, trekking and adventure touring is generally Nov–Feb, when temperatures are comfortable and conditions are favourable for exploring landscapes, national parks and cultural highlights.

Laos has a tropical climate with warm temperatures throughout the year, typically ranging between 24°C and 32°C (75°F–90°F). Most regions experience distinct wet and dry seasons which influence travel conditions.

Travelling outside the main season can still be rewarding, with quieter trails, seasonal landscapes and unique experiences depending on rainfall, wildlife activity or snow conditions.

Thai Baht and USD are the best currencies to exchange although AUD, GBP, NZD are also accepted.

Banks and exchange facilities are found in Luang Prabang, Vang Vieng and Vientiane.

Visa cards and ATM are available in most major centres, however it is not recommended to rely on these solely.

If you are purchasing items of over US$50 it is best not to change this into Lao kip as you will require a small back pack to carry all the notes!
