Jordan Treks & Tours

Jordan is one of the Middle East’s most rewarding destinations for walking and cultural exploration, where ancient cities, desert landscapes and dramatic canyon routes come together in a single, immersive experience.

From sandstone mountains and palm-lined wadis to remote desert trails and world-class archaeological sites, travelling through Jordan on foot reveals layers of history and landscape that are often missed when moving quickly.

World Expeditions has decades of experience designing treks and tours across Jordan, combining on-foot exploration with deep cultural insight and careful route selection.

Walking is central to many adventures. Trails through the Dana Biosphere Reserve descend through remote canyons and high plateaus toward Petra, often described as the Middle East’s answer to the Inca Trail. In Wadi Rum, walking routes reveal towering cliffs, natural rock arches and wide desert spaces that glow with colour at sunrise and sunset.

At the heart of most adventures is Petra, one of the world’s great archaeological sites. Approaching this ancient Nabataean city on foot allows time to absorb the scale, setting and craftsmanship of its rock-cut temples and tombs, carved directly into rose-coloured sandstone.

Cultural touring adds further depth. Visits to the Roman city of Jerash, the early Islamic Desert Castles and viewpoints such as Mount Nebo provide context to Jordan’s long history, while time at the Dead Sea or along the Red Sea coast in Aqaba offers a restorative contrast to days spent walking.

Explore our Jordan treks and tours and discover one of the Middle East’s true paths less travelled.

The best time to travel to Jordan for hiking, trekking and adventure touring is usually between October and April when temperatures are cooler and conditions are more comfortable for exploring desert landscapes.

Jordan has an arid desert climate with hot summers and mild winters. Temperatures generally range between 15°C and 40°C (59°F–104°F) depending on the season.

During the hotter months temperatures can rise significantly, though early morning or evening exploration can still be rewarding. Travelling during quieter periods can reveal peaceful desert scenery and dramatic landscapes.
