Georgia Walks & Tours

Georgia sits at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, offering a rare blend of mountain walking, living culture and deeply layered history. Compact yet diverse, it’s a destination that rewards travellers who enjoy exploring on foot as much as they value cultural discovery.

Walking adventures here move through a wide range of landscapes. Trails pass forested valleys, alpine meadows and high mountain villages in the Caucasus, where traditional ways of life remain closely tied to the land.

Sections of the emerging Transcaucasian Trail link remote communities and historic routes, providing access to quieter regions and some of the country’s most rewarding walking terrain.

Cultural exploration adds depth to every walk. Time in Tbilisi, Georgia’s atmospheric capital, reveals a city shaped by trade, faith and resilience, where old stone streets sit alongside contemporary cafés and markets. Nearby Mtskheta, a UNESCO World Heritage–listed town, offers insight into Georgia’s early Christian heritage, while sites such as Uplistsikhe and Vardzia reveal ancient cave cities carved directly into the landscape. Beyond the main sites, walks connect fairytale villages, vineyards and rural valleys where hospitality is central to daily life.

These experiences are balanced with touring options that allow you to explore Georgia’s highlights in comfort, making the country accessible to a wide range of walkers.

The best time to travel to Georgia for hiking, trekking and adventure touring is generally May–Jun and Sep–Oct, when temperatures are comfortable and conditions are favourable for exploring landscapes, national parks and cultural highlights.

Georgia has a mountain-influenced climate where temperatures vary with altitude, typically ranging between 5°C and 25°C (41°F–77°F). Valleys can feel mild while alpine areas remain cooler.

Travelling outside the main season can still be rewarding, with quieter trails, seasonal landscapes and unique experiences depending on rainfall, wildlife activity or snow conditions.
