This morning we meet at Vancouver airport for the flight to Haida Gwaii (included in trip fare). We kickoff our trip with a land-based tour of Graham Island before enjoyong a welcome dinner and overnight at local lodge accommodation.

This morning we visit Tlell, Skidegate and Haida Heritage Centre before boarding Cascadia where we undertake an orientation and get comfortable. We then cruise into the southern half of the Haida Gwaii – Gwaii Haanas, whale watching, and make our first island anchorage and go exploring ashore.

Today we cruise further south to Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve, National Marine Conservation Area Reserve and Haida Heritage Site. We enjoy a visit at T’aanuu village site, and also visit K’iid Xyangs K’iidaay (Burnaby Narrows) for some of the planet’s densest intertidal life, where we can take out the kayaks.

Today offers exceptional opportunities for seabird sightings, as we journey through rich coastal habitats. Our highlight will be a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of SGang Gwaay (Ninstints), celebrated for its impressive array of ancient Haida totem poles that tell the stories of this remarkable culture. Later, we’ll head to offshore islets, including the historic Rose Harbour.

Today is spent sailing through Juan Perez Sound, a sheltered and scenic area rich in marine life. As we sail we’ll be on the lookout for whales that frequent these waters, including humpbacks, orcas, and gray whales. Juan Perez Sound, whale watching, visit seabird researchers at seabird colony. We will also visit a seabird colony, where we’ll meet dedicated researchers who are working to understand and protect the colony.

Today we visit the cultural significant heritage site at Windy Bay cultural heritage site, and continue cruising, keeping our eyes peeled for whale watching which are often spotted in the area. This afternoon we continue our cultural journe at K’uuna (Skedans) village site, an ancient Haida settlement.

Cruising to port in Kitimat, watching for wildlife. On arrival a transfer to Terrace airport will be available.
