If swimming in alpine lakes is part of your plan, bring a small travel towel and/or wash rag so you can clean off any insect repellent (if used) before entering the water to protect fragile ecosystems.

This is a full pack hike, but the packs can be quite light if you are conservative with your personal belongings. Normally, you would expect to carry 2 to 4 pounds of group food on the travel days between the chalets and your lunch on the days around the buildings. Since this is not a hard and fast rule, there are often enough folks on the trip who take enough of the group food that someone who is not up to carrying any extra weight is free not to. Basically it seems that most packs range from about 10 to 30 lbs, depending on what you consider necessary.

We recommend carrying an easily accessible 1 litre wide-mouth water bottle while hiking. This size is usually sufficient for most trail segments and allows for easy refilling at designated sources and cabins. These bottles are convenient for filling from creeks and help you manage your pack weight effectively. While bladders can be used, they can be more troublesome to fill at water stops and may be more challenging to filter if needed. You should have a second 1 litre water bottle in reserve instead.

If you wish, you are welcome to bring a water purifier, but it is not necessary. Most of your water will be sourced from springs at the cabins, and it can be filtered upon request. If you have concerns about the water quality, bringing a water purification system is a good option. On the trail, we use designated sources for water, and the guides will direct you to safe filling locations. Additionally, the guides carry a filter for any instances where water from questionable sources may be needed.

We kindly request that you do not bring bear spray. Your guides will be equipped with bear spray.

Each cabin is equipped with 2 outlets connected to the solar panel for charging batteries. These are shared among the group. To conserve battery life, we recommend keeping your phone on airplane mode, as this can significantly extend the time between charges.

No, there will be no service upon leaving the town of Clearwater and until your return.

Tipping your guide is encouraged and greatly appreciated. Your guides work hard to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable experience. While not a requirement, we recommend a tip of $10-20 per person per day. As a percentage, this will amount to only a small portion of your overall trip costs, but it will make a big difference to your guide.
