To mark World Tourism Day 2022, which this year is themed 'Rethinking Tourism', we've launched the first of our Regenerative 2030 Projects.

We've always been refining and rethinking how we can offer a more sustainable experience. In November 2021, we updated our Thoughtful Travel Charter to announce our ambition to integrate ‘regenerative’ programs into every one of our global operation centres by 2030. Today, we make the first steps towards achieving our goal with the release of our first regenerative programs, in Nepal and Peru.

Since our first trek in Nepal in 1975 we’ve always strived to deliver BIG adventures with small footprints. We were one of the first adventure travel companies to encourage people to move away from tour bus travel and explore the world in a more environmentally friendly style (under your own steam) so you can better experience a remote destination, a unique culture, or an epic view—or all three.

Through the World Expeditions Foundation, we’re supporting a variety of local non-profit partners around the world that are working on regenerative projects that will reduce pollution, carbon, waste, as well as strengthen local economies by empowering them with knowledge to improve their lives.

You can support these projects by making a micro donation when booking a World Expeditions adventure, or making larger donations on individual Regenerative 2030 project pages.

Donations are tax deductible for Australian tax residents and with our entire team committed to assisting these projects through our regular work hours—from our IT department creating the micro-donation technology to our operations team distributing the funds through the help of our local partners—there are absolutely zero administration charges, which means every dollar we raise is directed to the intended project.

We see ourselves as custodians of the special places we connect our travellers to, and our environmental and restorative principles have been woven into the fabric of our business for decades, which is crystallised in our Thoughtful Travel Charter.

We're proud of our many sustainable travel achievements to date but we will never rest on our laurels. That's why we're now upping the ante with a resolve to actively improve the social or environmental conditions of a destination you'll visit with us, utilising sustainable practices and purpose-driven programmes that leave the places better than we found them, via our Regenerative 2030 Project.
