The Thoughtful Traveller

Conserving environments and cultures takes a united front

The Thoughtful Traveller booklet
Conserving environments and cultures requires a united front with our industry partners, travellers, guides and staff.

This is why in 2000 we developed our award winning Responsible Travel Guidebook which presented our comprehensive policies on sustainable travel.

Over the years our Responsible Travel Guidebook has evolved to meet the ever-changing landscape of sustainable travel.

In its newest version it is known as The Thoughtful Traveller booklet, an easy to read document that empowers travellers with ideas on how they can be part of the solution and collectively make the world a better place when they travel.

Hope in Action: Shaping the Future of Sustainable Travel

On 20 August 2025, we hosted the Hope in Action: Shaping the Future of Sustainable Travel forum which drew a packed audience of travel media and industry leaders. This thought-provoking industry event bought together leaders, guides, travellers and sustainability advocates to explore how adventure travel can be a genuine force for good, and what real sustainable travel looks like – grounded in science, guided by values, and full of hope for what’s ahead. The panel included:

# Suzan Muir: Sustainable living expert, nature guide & contestant on Alone Australia

# Stephanie Ho: Young adventurer & protector of cold places

# Jessica Thomas: Masters student & wilderness guide

# Ben Pearson: Country Director, World Animal Protection Australia

# Laura Wells: Science communicator, environmental advocate & Survivor Australia contestant

# David King: Proud Gundungurra Man & advocate for Indigenous culture

# Sue Badyari: CEO, World Expeditions.
