On arrival at Tocumen International Airport, you’ll be met by our representative and assisted with a private transfer into Panama City. Along the way, you’ll receive a trip briefing to help prepare for the journey ahead. Check in for three nights at the historic Central Hotel in Casco Antiguo (Old Town), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built in 1874 overlooking Plaza de la Independencia, this was Panama’s first hotel and quickly became a gathering place for travellers and dignitaries. Today it combines restored colonial architecture with modern comforts – the perfect base to begin your adventure. Overnight: Central Hotel, or similar Activity Approx: Airport transfer 30 mins

After breakfast, set out early to explore Metropolitan Park with a private naturalist guide. Just 15 minutes from downtown, this is the most accessible rainforest in Central America and part of the Interoceanic Biological Corridor. Walk its trails in search of birdlife, monkeys, and, with luck, a sloth resting in the canopy, while learning about the region’s flora and fauna. Continue to the striking Frank Gehry–designed Biomuseo on the Amador Causeway. Its vibrant design tells the story of how the Isthmus of Panama rose from the sea, uniting two continents and reshaping global biodiversity. Inside, eight permanent galleries showcase Panama’s extraordinary natural and cultural heritage. Return to your hotel in the afternoon to relax and enjoy the charms of Casco Antiguo. Overnight: Central Hotel, or similar Activity Approx: 6 hrs, walking 3–5 km (1.8–3.1 mi)

Kayak the legendary Panama Canal Watershed for a completely different perspective of this iconic waterway. After meeting your guide in the early morning, travel into Soberanía National Park, one of the richest birdwatching regions in the Americas. Following a safety briefing and short paddle instruction, set off by kayak to explore the Canal zone. From water level, you’ll appreciate the scale of ships passing through while your guide leads you into quieter waterways alive with wildlife. Keep watch for toucans, monkeys, iguanas, and sloths as the forest stirs with the morning sun. After your paddle, return by private transfer to your hotel in Panama City. Overnight: Central Hotel, Deluxe Room or similar Activity Approx: 4–5 hrs including transfer, paddling approx. 6–8 km (3.7–5 mi), flatwater

Cycle through the volcanic landscapes of El Valle de Antón on a guided e-bike tour, exploring its cultural and natural treasures with ease. After leaving Panama City, transfer into the cooler highlands where El Valle lies cradled inside a dormant volcanic crater. From here, set out on your e-bike (helmets provided) along scenic routes past local villages, pre-Columbian petroglyphs, and the town’s vibrant artisan market. Your guide will point out historical landmarks and share stories of life in this unique valley, surrounded by forested ridges and fertile volcanic soils. Riding an e-bike makes the experience accessible to all active travellers, offering gentle support on hills so you can focus on the scenery. At the end of the day, check into your hotel in El Valle, ready to explore more of this serene mountain town. Overnight: Hotel Caracoral, or similar Activity Approx: 3–4 hrs cycling, approx. 12–15 km (7.5–9.3 mi), moderate terrain, e-bike assisted

The ascent of La India Dormida follows the silhouette of the “Sleeping Indian Woman” ridge, while Cerro Gaital offers a steeper challenge rewarded with dramatic views over the valley and beyond. Along the way you’ll learn about the area’s unique volcanic origins and its importance as a biodiversity hotspot. With fertile soils and lush vegetation, this protected region is home to countless species – a paradise for nature lovers and keen photographers alike. Return to your hotel in El Valle by late afternoon, with time to relax or explore the town’s artisan market at your own pace. You may wish to browse the colourful artisan market, visit thermal springs, or take an additional short hike to one of the waterfalls nearby. Panama recently launched its “1,000 Kilometers of Trails” project at El Valle, which seeks to bring outdoor recreation and green tourism to rural communities and protected areas. First out of the gate is the Ruta de la Caldera, a system of five trails around the extinct Valle de Antón volcano. For those who prefer a gentler pace, simply relax at your hotel and enjoy the cooler mountain air. This free day allows you to set the rhythm before returning to Panama City tomorrow.
