Overview

Tucked into the pristine Osa Peninsula, this 5-day Golfo Dulce adventure offers a rich immersion into one of Costa Rica’s most biodiverse and lesser-known regions. Perfect for those looking to extend their time in nature beyond a main itinerary, this short journey combines rainforest, rare wildlife, and coastal beauty in one unforgettable add-on.

Your experience begins with a scenic flight into Puerto Jiménez, gateway to the Corcovado National Park. Here, you’ll embark on a full-day guided walk along the La Leona trail, a lush rainforest path alive with howler monkeys, scarlet macaws, coatis and even the occasional anteater. It’s an easy-paced walk but packed with wildlife encounters—ideal for nature lovers of all experience levels.

Next, you’ll venture out onto the waters of the Golfo Dulce by boat, one of only a few tropical fjords in the world. This peaceful half-day excursion includes snorkelling near the Mogos islets and, depending on the season, opportunities to spot dolphins or even humpback whales. It’s a soft adventure suited to all ages and fitness levels, with time to unwind on the sand or simply marvel at the mangroves.

Nights are spent beachside at Agua Dulce Hotel and centrally located in San José for easy airport access. With daily breakfasts, select transfers, and expert guides included on key activities, this is a seamless and enriching nature extension—ideal for curious travellers who want to go deeper into Costa Rica’s wild side, without the crowds.

This extension is the perfect complement for any active traveller wanting to explore more of Costa Rica’s ecological treasures—off the radar, but forever remembered.
